ANHAN January 2009 Newsletter

The next few months are the perfect time to top up your business and horticulture education. We are very lucky that there are so many courses, seminar, workshops and conferences to choose from in Alberta. Many are advertised in this newsletter and others will be listed on the ANHAN website. All are very inexpensive to attend and well worth attending. You will learn a whole bunch and meet a lot of fellow enthusiasts. A great way to spend a day or two.

The biggest, and of course, most important, is the ANHAN and ARRGO Spring Conference. As I look out to heavily falling snow and large snow drifts - the “Spring” part seems dubious. None the less, on Friday, February 27, join us at the Denham Inn in Leduc for the triple events of the ANHAN AGM, ARRGO AGM and the Spring Conference. Please see page 2 for more details,  page 3 for the registration form or check out the ANHAN and ARRGO websites (www.anhan.org and www.arrgo.ca)

The “Going Organic” GO conference “It’s time to go organic, come grow with us!” will be held at the Norsemen Inn in Camrose. March 11 conference. March 12 Value chain workshop (Module on Product Development - Are You Ready? - see Page 4 for info on Value Chain modules) and organic transition workshops. Watch the Going Organics website (www.goingorganic.ca) for details as they become available.

“How to Approach Retailers”, another module of the Value Chain Modules will be held in Grande Prairie on February 17. You need to register soon for that one. See page 5 for more information. Other Value Chain Modules (see Page 5) can be presented on other dates if a group, such as ANHAN or ARRGO, requests it and gathers enough interested members.
